Hey my wonderful lady friends,
How is your week going? In today’s post, I believe the good Lord has put it on my heart to talk about finding joy in serving others.
Lately my husband has been working long hours and so that leaves me to care for the house, the kids, and our pets solo.
In that my mind wonders to a place of what about me, where is my me time, why am I putting so much effort into serving others when they don’t appreciate it or even notice.
I wholeheartedly believe that these thoughts are selfish thoughts that the devil is trying to use to take the joy out of serving first and foremost God, my husband, my children and family.
Finding Joy in Serving Others With God’s Truths
Colossians 3:23-24 “Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters, since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward. It is the Lord Christ you are serving.”
Philippians 2:4 “not looking to your own interests but each of you to the interests of the others.”
Hebrews 6:10 “God is not unjust; He will not forget your work and the love you have shown Him as you have helped His people and continue to help them.”
Galatians 5:13-14 “You, my brothers and sisters, were called to be free. But do not use your freedom to indulge the flesh; rather, serve one another humbly in love. For the entire law is fulfilled in keeping this one command: “Love your neighbors as yourself.”
Matthew 23:11 “The greatest among you will be your servant.”
Luke 6:38 “Give, and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, will be poured into your lap. For with the measure you use, it will be measured to you.”
Acts 20:35 “In everything I did, I showed you that by this kind of hard work we must help the weak, remembering the words that Lord Jesus himself said: “It is more blessed to give than to receive.”
1 Peter 4:10 “Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms.”
Mark 10:44-45 “and whoever wants to be first must be a slave of all. For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life as ransom for many.”
John 13:23-24 “When He had finished washing their feet, He put on His clothes and returned to His place. “Do you understand what I have done for you?” He asked them. “You call me ‘Teacher’ and ‘Lord,’ and rightly so, for that is what I am. Now that I, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you also should wash one another’s feet.”
We are to be faithful stewards of God’s grace and to do everything with all ours as thought we are doing it unto the Lord. We are to give and it will be given to us because the good Lord doesn’t forget our hard works or the love that we show others.
If Jesus, the son of God, can come and serve others, doing it with a joyful and loving heart, then why can’t we joyfully serve the Lord by serving our husbands, children, and families??
How do you find joy in serving your family??
