As a stay at home wife and mother I find myself being rather frugal, as our family relies on one income to get buy.

Being frugal means to me that I’m thrifty and not wasteful, as a manager of my home I want to make sure I’m getting the most out of my husbands hard earned money.

How to make homemade laundry detergent:

So to make this homemade laundry soap you will need gather your supplies:

1 bar soap, grated

10 cups hot water

1 cup borax

1 cup washing soda

1 cup dawn dish soap

22 cups cold water

5 gallon bucket.

Once you have your supplies gathered to make your own laundry detergent, you will want to grated the bar of soap you have chosen.

Have it all grated? Great! Add 10 cups of hot water to your large kettle and mix in the grated soap bar, for it to melt together.

While your bar soap and 10 cups of water are melting together, add the 22 cups of cold water to the 5 gallon bucket.

Once everything is melted in the large kettle turn the heat off and add 1 cup borax, 1 cup washing soda, and 1 cup of dawn dish soap. Stir to combine.

After everything is combined add the hot mixture to the 5 gallon bucket with the 22 cups of cold water. Stir to combine everything.

When washing your laundry use 1/3 cup of the laundry detergent recipe per load or the amount suggested in your washing machine instructions.
