What Is Your Purpose In Life

Hey Friends,

Have you ever felt like you don’t have a purpose in this world? Have you ever felt like you have nothing of value to offer this world?

I know on more occasions than one I have felt this way, so this post is for me as much as it is for you.

I don’t know if its from being a stay at home mom, and more often than not when asked what I do I get a Oh! with a disgusted face when people find out I’m a stay at home mom.

Or maybe its the guilt of not working and not bringing in an income to help provide for my family, leaving my husband to work extra long hours to make sure my families needs are met!

On another note, maybe feeling like you have no purpose or value is the devil trying to tear us down?

John 8:44 Jesus saysYou are of your father the devil, and your will is to do your father’s desires. He was a murderer from the beginning, and does not stand in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks out of his own character, for he is a liar and the father of lies.”

The devil will try and is continually trying to deceive us in our thinking. He will discourage us, making us think we are not doing enough.

The devil spreads thoughts of “I should be doing more,” in our day to day lives. The devil will try to discourage us by making us want more and making us give up!

In Comes Truth!

Proverbs 31:27 She watches over the affairs of her household and does not eat the bread of idleness.”

Titus 2:3-5 Likewise, teach the older women to be reverent in the way they live, not to be slanderers or addicted to much wine, but to teach what is good. Then they can urge the younger women to love their husbands and children, to be self-controlled and pure, to be busy at home, to be kind, and to be subject to their husbands, so that no one will malign the word of God.”

When we stay at home and care for our families “serving them,” we also are serving the Lord.

1 Peter 4:10 “Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms.”

We have purpose and value through the Lord!

2 Thessalonians 2:13 “But we ought always to thank God for you, brothers and sisters loved by the Lord, because God chose you as firstfruits to be saved through the sanctifying work of the Spirit and through belief in the truth.

1 Peter 2:9 “But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light.”

John 15:16 “You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you so that you might go and bear fruit—fruit that will last—and so that whatever you ask in my name the Father will give you.”

Ephesians 1:4-6 For he chose us in him before the creation of the world to be holy and blameless in his sight. In love he predestined us for adoption to sonship through Jesus Christ, in accordance with his pleasure and will— to the praise of his glorious grace, which he has freely given us in the One he loves.”

2 Timothy 1:9 “He has saved us and called us to a holy life—not because of anything we have done but because of his own purpose and grace. This grace was given us in Christ Jesus before the beginning of time,”

Ephesians 2:8 “For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God—”

1 Corinthians 1:9 “God is faithful, who has called you into fellowship with his Son, Jesus Christ our Lord.”

Jeremiah 1:5 “Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I set you apart; I appointed you as a prophet to the nations.”

Psalms 139:13-16 For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well.
My frame was not hidden from you when I was made in the secret place, when I was woven together in the depths of the earth.Your eyes saw my unformed body; all the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be.”

Isaiah 49:5 And now the Lord says— he who formed me in the womb to be his servant to bring Jacob back to him and gather Israel to himself, for I am honored in the eyes of the Lord and my God has been my strength—”

Isaiah 44:2 This is what the Lord says—he who made you, who formed you in the womb, and who will help you:”

Isaiah 49:1 Before I was born the Lord called me; from my mother’s womb he has spoken my name.”

Isaiah 44:24 “This is what the Lord says— your Redeemer, who formed you in the womb: I am the Lord, the Maker of all things, who stretches out the heavens, who spreads out the earth by myself,”

We were created for God’s purpose and He will show us how to offer value to this world through ministry whether that ministry be raising our children and taking care of our homes or a church ministry with others. Just know when you are serving others you are serving the Lord by pointing others to Him!

I want to encourage you to keep living for the Lord one day at a time!

Dear Lord, I pray you show the women reading this their purpose and let them know they are a valued member of your family. Whatever ministry you have called them to do help them to do that ministry with all their hearts. Nothing is greater than serving and glorifying you Lord! In your holy name Amen.
